Peonies are one of my favorite flowers. I grew up in an old farmhouse on the top of a mountain in Long Valley, New Jersey, where my mother was an avid gardener and I spent many hours exploring and playing in her gardens. I used to watch bugs for hours, examining their activities. I loved to watch the ants collect sugars from the unopened peony buds. This is a watercolor painting from 2016.
